Part 1, Week 3

Going strong with the third week of Part 1! This is the half-way point of the first Part, which also means it's half-way through the Minimum Mood Track; if you're only in the game to make something small but mighty, you could be half way there this week!

This week's Minimum, Medium, and Maximum moods are: Enthralled, Happy, Indescribable

Some nicer moods this week, along with one that's a little more difficult to depict. Enthralled and Happy are straightforward enough, but what do you do for Indescribable? Do you have any thoughts on the subject? If you've made a mood theme before, what have you used for this mood? Need any help brainstorming? Or maybe you're working from the worlds angstiest fandom and actually need help with Happy and/or Enthralled? Let's talk about it!

oops I forgot to post on last week's update but here were my bulborbs!

I am a little stumped on Indescribable for this week but I'll probably go with one of the more strange-looking bulborbs. Like the Fiery Bulblax. (idk if anyone here is familiar with Pikmin creatures but he's literally on fire and looks like he's melting. he's fine tho)

Edit: oh yeah here are this week's! Pretty much stuck to my initial thoughts.

Indescribable is a headache and a half as a mood, I tell ya.

And yeah, Indescribable really is an interesting challenge... Like, okay, take the idea of something that can't be described... And portray it visually! Like that's easy!

Honestly, I feel like the worst part about Indescribable is that it's a one-off mood. No other moods are inherited from it, nor is it inherited from any other moods! But because it's still a top level mood, you have to make it if you want a complete mood theme. If I were designing the mood theme hierarchy, I might have it inherited from Blank, for example. But I don't think I have the guts to really mess with top level mood themes...

Ohhhhh man I agree, that's annoying! Why is it essential?!

It's one of four moods like that; the other three are Awake, Devious, and Enthralled. They don't tie into any other moods, they're just on their own! They're some of the least efficient moods in the entire system, IMO.

Let's see here; Awake I'd probably tie in with Surprised/Shocked somehow (Edit: Or maybe Energetic?); Devious with Mischievous; and Enthralled with Loved. Between those and tying Indescribable with Blank, I feel like they're pretty well sorted! But no one asked me when they were setting things up, so this is what we have.

Busy the past couple days, but here's one option for Happy!



Edit: and yeah, indescribable is hard! I haven't done it for Doremi yet, but I'm likely going to do two options - a silly one that makes sense without show context and a more serious one that makes a lot of sense but only if you know the show. For Digimon this one was the absolute bane of the basic moods - something that isn't on its face a massive easy-to-decipher spoiler, visually clear, and at least emotionally ambiguous? That's a high order. Neither option that's actually going up in my final post was in the draft I showed, but I think my current options both work better with AND without context. Loved that Renamon mood image, but after resizing even I who have seen that scene a million times was like "so where's her head here...?"

Enthralled
- Data doing research.

Happy
- Ironically from the same episode (Menage a Troi) as the 'angry' one. Troi has a lot of emotions in that one.

Indescribable
- Crusher drinking out of Riker's head (in a dream, but still). Phantasms is a deeply weird episode, and seemed fitting for this one.

Okay, the head straw probably wins for indescribable. I don't know how I'd go about describing that to anyone!

A good week! I thought I was going to find the Arthuriana theme difficult, but the Questing Beast is obviously indescribable (though many have tried), so I haven't got stuck yet... (Though there's still plenty of time.)
