Part 1, Week 1

Aaaaahhhhh, it's tiiiiiime! Welcome to Mood Theme in a Year 2025! Whether you're here for the Maximum Track, the Medium Track, the Minimum Track, or just to watch and cheer along, I'm glad you're here ♥ I hope you have a good time!

This week's moods are: Angry, Awake, Confused

The next six weeks are the only ones where the moods are the same for all three tracks, so it's pretty special! I hope everyone has fun with it.

As with last year, I'm opening discussion in the comments of these weekly posts. I don't know if I'll keep up with the mid-week check-ins this year, since there wasn't a lot of need for them as the year went on, but if you have a preference, please let me know! Even if it's only for every other Part, for example. I may also get less verbose with the weekly mood posts as the year goes on, but maybe not! We'll see.

Anyway! What are you working on? Are you making a mood theme of any size, working on a different art project, or just here to follow the fun? Let's talk about it!

I think I'm going to do a Medium Track sheep mood theme to start out the year, and then maybe a Medium Track pigeon mood theme. 132 was a lot of images last year, even if I did pack it into a much shorter time frame than usual! Still, we'll see how things go; this is only the first day of the year, after all!

I'm hoping to have the sheep finished (and even sent off) on time for 3W4DW, but we'll see what happens. Pretty sure it's a bit of a pinch, but considering how I managed last year, well 😂

PIGEONS! I am so down to cheer you on for both, but pigeons are an especially beloved little creature. Good luck! I can't wait to see what you get up to.

I love pigeons! They're so pretty, and also probably sweet? And the noises they make: Adorable! Also anything that can perch on my shoulder and make said noises in my ear while possibly also preening itself and/or me = very excellent creature, would love to pet and spoil.

I've already got one pigeon mood done: Envious, a crossover with my fancy rat mood theme 😂 The idea is that the pigeon is envious of the rat's nimble little hand-paws, while the rat is envious of the pigeon's wings. I hope they can become friends and work together! (I know this wouldn't work in real life, but this is drawings we're talking about, so I'm going to pretend.)

I would like to really try and do this this year since mood themes are one of my favorite things to make, but I don't really have any ideas just now about subject matter. I'll have to think on it!

Hello hello!! I'm so glad it's time! Would it be kosher to try making a set of icon-sized images based on moods for the purposes of DWRP? I have a character I would like to make a stack of 15 for that all have the same stylization, and it can be very tough to stay on track with those when I'm not regularly (gently) kicked in the butt to do so.

That said I'm thinking minimum track for now, because I'm quite slow!

I'm excited to see what folks come up with this year!

Yes, projects that are not mood themes are explicitly allowed! Things like making character expression sheets came up for discussion when I was first setting this community up, and an icon set for any character, from fan to original and all the way in between, would fit right in.

Minimum sounds like it would probably be the best fit for your needs anyway; it's a total of 18 moods to pick from, and of those, 3 are optional.

3 are also not going to get used since there's a 15-icon limit on unpaid journals, so that just allows me to nix a couple of my least favourites, haha!

Finally did my first image! This is "confused" for one of my OC's, Ryan Planter. Just an ordinary guy by looks, he's linked to some lovecraftian horrors that I'm not going to go TOO indepth on in here. BUT! It's nice to do art after such a long art block!



(It'll be shrunk to a 100x100 image later but I need to do a few more first!)

I got "Angry" done finally! One more from this batch and I'll be able to move to the next light track prompts!
