Extra: Three Weeks For Dreamwidth
Apr. 29th, 2024 08:21 pmWe're currently in the middle of the first of Three Weeks For Dreamwidth, a site-wide celebration of our web host! Mood themes themselves are a very LJ-clone thing, and I'm happy they made it over to Dreamwidth in the move, even if some of the moods themselves still baffle me from time to time.
To celebrate here, I think it might be fun to look through the mood list, find one or more that encapsulate your feelings on Dreamwidth, and share it. Whether it means jumping ahead to a mood we haven't gotten to yet, or looking back to find one you've previously created, you can comment on this post to share the image, or even just the mood itself! Or, if the mood you associate isn't listed, you can create a custom mood and an image to go with it. Are there any particular moods you think should be on the list of mood themes, but aren't?
Three Weeks for Dreamwidth runs from April 25th to May 15th, so we have plenty of time to do this. It's also 100% entirely optional, so if you're not into it, no worries!

Yes ...
Date: 2024-04-30 01:37 am (UTC)I made a gather post about Three Weeks for Dreamwidth in case anyone wants to see what other folks are doing. Since this community runs to artists, be aware that DW-themed art is popular and there are already a couple different offerings available.

I find mood themes very useful online, where people can't see each other, and I don't want to keep typing all my body language.

The mood theme that I use most often is Busy, which in the set I picked has a book in front of the character's face. :D I also use Creative at least a couple times a month, and occasionally Excited.

Exasperated and fascinated are ones I've looked for and not found.
I'd like to thank you again for running this community. Even though I don't code or make art, I find it amusing to watch. Seeing other people's art is fun. The little rats are especially adorable. I'm currently reading The Far Roofs, "a game of talking rats, and monstrous gods, and you." It keeps reminding me of the mood theme rats. Like there should be an icon for "so happy that your eyeballs dance."

Date: 2024-05-04 02:16 am (UTC)Oh same; I also use emojis and icons for that in comments as well as posts. Kinda makes me wish that comments could include moods 😂 Come to think of it, I have almost enough icon space, I could probably just upload most of my mood theme as icons and use 'em that way. That'd be interesting!

I'm having a ton of fun myself! I'm glad I decided to start it, even if I did pick a really inconvenient time to do it again 😂 This is the second community I've decided set up with only two weeks before the event's official start date.
The little rats are especially adorable.

Boggling! Gosh, I can't believe I didn't think of that for a rat mood before now. I wonder if I can pull it off without making an animated gif...

Date: 2024-05-04 03:13 am (UTC)People use to do moodset icons, usually a set of 6-12. You can use DW points to buy more icon space.

You could probably do it with emanata, like agitrons (wiggly lines marking motion). But animated boggling would be so awesome. That's definitely one for the icon slot.

Date: 2024-05-14 11:53 pm (UTC)The moods that encapsulate my general feelings about DW are: Thoughtful, Excited, Silly, Nostalgic, Accomplished, & Busy.
I tried to narrow it down to one and couldn't.

Date: 2024-05-15 04:44 am (UTC)Dreamwidth is well worth a wealth of moods! I think I'd co-sign on all of those ✌
Side note, this week's Cheerful is one that I cheated and went punny-on; I bring it up, because I made it a cheerleader rat, so it's cheer-ful, and what else would it be cheering for aside from Dreamwidth?
Larger version of the Cheer-ful rat
Hopefully that will help spark some inspiration for you and the approximately five million variations on Happy 😅
