I don't know if anyone remembers Uncomfortable, but it turns out that Hopeful is actually sitting on another rat there 😉
Also, tremendous thanks to my sister-in-law for her suggestion for Chipper! I was this close to having a rat sticking out of a Pringles tube instead, but I like this better.
Finally, Thankful is a nod to a drawing I did of one of my first pet rats. The rat in question was a gray hooded dumbo rather than a top-ear pointed, but I remembered a sketch I did of him holding a piece of celery, and that ultimately inspired this one.

Love the night sky shooting star for hopeful, and rejuvenated a vey different look that works well.
Mellow rat is chilling in hammock, nice, and I love that recumbent and complacent are almost mirrors of each other one facing up the other down.
also chipper is a fun pun, good idea from sis-in-law!

It just seemed natural to reuse the idea for Grateful once I remembered it.
I, too, would be impressed by a strawberry that was more than half my size! (Honestly, I'd probably be pretty impressed by a strawberry that was even half the size of your average rat; male rats get to be around a pound/2.2kg, so an 8oz/1.1kg strawberry would be incredible.)
In reality, people shouldn't smoke anything around rats (their lungs are incredible delicate and sensitive), but I think tiny amounts of edibles might not be 100% terrible. Don't quote me on that, though, check with a vet first!
Hopeful probably can't technically see the shooting star (rat vision is pretty bad), so I decided that she can smell it instead 😜
Rejuvinated gave me a heck of a time! I finally started making headway when I thought about involving the dawn of a new day/a sunrise.
Rats love hammocks! They are very popular to snooze or hang out in, and especially for giant cuddle piles of "as many rats as will fit (plus one more)".
Recumbent's coloring is actually based on another one of my rats! He had a very interesting coat. Complacent, meanwhile, is the embodiment of, "Whatever, just let it happen, I guess."
SIL definitely saved the day with that one! A can of chips would have worked, but I like this one so much better.
