Experiences and Memories
1. What’s the most memorable experience you’ve had related to your fandom(s)?
I feel like everything in Smallville fandom has kinda blurred together. Maybe not a specific fandom, but in recent years, the excitement of running (well, co running) my first exchange was such a good feeling, as was the unexpected enthusiasm over Comment Bingo, when I finally got it up and running.
#2-12
2. Have you ever traveled to a location specifically because it was featured or related to your fandom(s)?
No. When I went to Vancouver though, I was excited when I realized I could recognize the top of the building that they used as Oliver's penthouse/Queen Tower in Smallville. I still remember a LJ friend made a list of places that they film at, and I left it on my laptop and forgot that I wasn't planning on taking it, so I couldn't use it. IDK how much my family would be all for my Smallville related tour of Vancouver but I could've tried to see a couple of spots. Oh well.
3. Can you share about a time when fandom helped you through a difficult period?
I don't know if there's a specific time, but fandom has always felt like an escape. I'm pretty closed off/keep things to myself, for better or for worse, and sometimes, I think I have been able to express myself online in a way that is a little harder to do in person. And people have always been kind and supportive and I have appreciated that a lot. I've left fandom multiple times but it's always easy to find a home here when I return.
4. What’s the longest you’ve ever waited in line for an event or release related to fandom?
Probably a couple of hours. Both when I stood in line at Barnes N Nobles for the 7th Harry Potter book (had to go twice - one to get the ticket with the Letter Group I was in earlier in the day and the second time when they were actually opening the doors) or when I went to the midnight showing of The Dark Knight and had to be there at like, 9PM. Even then, we were further back than I planned so we could've gotten there sooner but the seats we ended up with weren't so bad, iirc.
5. Have you had the chance to meet any of the actors, musicians, authors, or creators from your fandom(s)?
No, the closest I got was when I saw Shah Rukh Khan filming on my college campus and seeing Chris Evans in LA pre-Captain America. I was getting ice cream with a few friends and a premiere for Push had just let out. Dakota Fanning left fairly quickly, but I do remember he was hanging around. We recognized him but I didn't have a smart phone or anything for him to sign, so I didn't bother.
6. What’s the most treasured piece of merchandise you have that’s related to fandom?
Bollywood may not be a fandom I was ever in much, but I was obsessed with Shah Rukh Khan as a teen and I was in London a few days after his Madame Tussaud's statue was revealed, so when we went, they had a SRK doll. I bought it and brought it back with me. I still have it. Also my sister once got me a Superman keychain from Six Flags and I still keep it on my lanyard. It's held up well! :D
7. Do you remember the first item you ever collected or received related to fandom?
Not really. I had a lot of Shah Rukh Khan posters as a teen. I would assume it was something Superman related though since I've been a fan for so long.
8. What’s the most exciting fan event or panel you’ve attended?
I've never attended any fan events/panels.
9. Have you participated in any challenges, collaborations, or competitions within fandom?
Yes, I've been apart of land comms, bingo events (though I'm terrible about completing them!), fests, and exchanges. They're a lot of fun and have helped me get out of my comfort zone.
10. How did you feel the first time you saw your favorite character, band, or actor in person?
I remember OneRepublic was part of this summer fest years ago and I was really excited to watch them live. I don't know how much I actually enjoy live music events/concerts, but that was a blast.
11. Have any of your family or friends become fans because of your influence? What was that like?
My sister has actually ended up getting me into shows for the most part, because I barely watch anything and she gives a lot of things a shot (she was even watching Smallville before me). My dad watched Elementary because of me, since I wanted to, and he really liked it too, so we'd watch together.
12. What’s the most emotional moment you’ve had as a fan within your community?
I remember when one of my LJ friends passed away. We weren't close, but we did work together on a fandom newsletter and I was just shocked. I'm sure many other people can relate unfortunately, but the way it all happened and escalated so quickly was a lot. I think that was the first time someone I knew online had passed away. Just so sad.

Conservation
In Malaysia, five islands form Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, a glittery turquoise oasis filled with coral reefs, parrotfish, seahorses, and green sea turtles.
Gaya, the largest of the five islands, is also home to the Gaya Island Resort: a luxury 5-star retreat nestled in an ancient rainforest that boasts stunning sea views, swim-up pools, and a spa village hidden amongst the mangroves.
But when guests have free time — between relaxing on massage tables and eating teppanyaki, shabu-shabu, and nabe — the resort challenges visitors to partake in local marine conservation efforts.
Ecotourism is a good way to get people involved, and maybe they'll want to stay involved.

Remigration vs. Refoulement
Remigration is the voluntary return to country of origin. If it's not voluntary, it's not remigration. This term covers things like freed slaves moving from America to Africa, or Syrian refugees going back to Syria now that some of them deem it safe. We need this term for such purposes, which right now means defending it from people who use it wrongly.
Refoulement is the forcible movement of refugees from the place they fled to back to the dangerous place they fled from. This is what the American government has done many times, such as sending boats full of Jewish refugees back to Nazi-infested Europe during World War II or the current transfer of refugees back to their country of origin. Call it what it is and cite the historic comparisons, where we've got evidence of people dying because of it.

"In the Heart of the Hidden Garden" belongs to the Antimatter and Stalwart Stan thread of the Polychrome Heroics series. It needs $86 to be fully funded. Lawrence shows Stan around the campus at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
The weather has been warm and wet here. Seen at the birdfeeders this week: a mixed flock of sparrows and house finches, two mourning doves, a male cardinal, a catbird, a phoebe, a skunk, a fox squirrel, and at least 2 probably 3 bats. I've heard a red-bellied woodpecker but didn't see it. Privet, dogwood, and mock orange are done blooming. Privet and mock orange are winding down. Zucchini has flower buds. Currently blooming: dandelions, honeysuckle, pansies, violas, marigolds, petunias, red salvia, wild strawberries, verbena, lantana, sweet alyssum, zinnias, snapdragons, blue lobelia, perennial pinks, impatiens, oxalis, moss rose, yarrow, red coreopsis, anise hyssop, firecracker plant, tomatoes, tomatillos, Asiatic lilies, cucumber, astilbe, daylilies, snowball bush, yellow squash. 'Chocolate Sprinkles' tomatoes are starting to show color. Blackberries, and tomatoes have green fruit. Wild strawberries, mulberries, and black raspberries are ripe.

winx club ~ enchantix forms in believix sequences by ultracartoonchannel
holy shit please watch this .
OK , well , those who never watch winx will have absolutely no context on this ... how to explain .
after basic magic winx and charmix powerup , enchantix was first actual separate form for characters . this come with entirely new sequences and outfits :
these enchantix forms also extremely emotional , as need to earn through some form of sacrifice , hardship , and character development as such . enchantix also function as sort of transition into adulthood - before nickelodeon swoop in , characters did actually age with each season , so characters start to turn 18 , or 19 for stella . for this reason , there is definitely something of mature , ethereal air to these transformations . absolutely beautiful , but in some ways that can sort of hinder little personality quirks and playfulness - not to even start on aisha , who get sequence of least length and detail .
then there was believix . while enchantix root in worlds of magic dimension and demand heroic sacrifices , believix is about ... well , belief in fairies . so believix root in earth , where people largely no longer believe in magic or fairies . these outfits take on cute , casual tones , to better reflect earth setting - and unlike enchantix , everyone get to be playful and fun ! enchantix feel like this serious transition into adulthood , believix feel like realisation that maybe not so much is different after all , in best ways .
so like ... really feel something special to see someone work hard at this project , put together beauty of enchantix forms with playfulness of believix . description state this project take years , and can understand why !

Whew~!
( Feelings about a possible diagnosis, some chatting about neurodivergency and my place in that space )
So there's that. UHM. YEAH. Having a lot of feelings about that right now!
IN OTHER NEWS my tomatoes are so big and too closely planted together, but they're doing so great! And my squash patch is growing so fast too, we're gonna have so many zucks and mini-pumpkins, haha. AND I GREW THEM FROM SEED. SEED. <3

There are also, in the squash patch, a couple of pepper plants and several onions battling for space. (there's also a couple of peppers by the tomato patch, I have four pepper plants and thirteen peppers growing big!). Today's gonna be the first little harvest, I think (we've been picking peas and strawberries and munching them as we walk about the backyard, but not a full, "time to bring the fruits of our labor inside). There will be homegrown peas in the stir fry this evening! ♥ ♥ ♥
And some art I have done! Logan Grimnar, High King of Fenris, and Arjac Rockfist, the Anvil of Fenris (and Grimnar's Champion), being cozy in front of a fire. ♥

I want to spend part of today catching up on posts and maybe. I don't know. Do something.

Birdfeeding
I haven't fed the birds yet, but I've seen a few sparrows and house finches. Despite not always seeing them in action, they continue to drain the hopper feeder daily.
EDIT 6/16/25 -- I fed the birds.
I put out water for the birds.
EDIT 6/16/25 -- I did some work around the patio.
The 'Ambrosia' melon is blooming. The tomatillo has a tiny green lantern fruit. :D
EDIT 6/16/25 -- I picked half a baggie of mulberries in the south lot and savanna.
Yellow pear tomato has green fruit. Daylilies are blooming.
EDIT 6/16/25 -- I picked half a baggie of black raspberries, mostly along the south edge of the prairie garden.
Pinks, coreopsis, and black-eyed Susans are blooming in the prairie garden.
EDIT 6/16/25 -- I trimmed overhanging brush in the ritual meadow.
EDIT 6/16/25 -- I picked half a baggie of mulberries along the road and in the savanna.
The first of the yucca flowers are open in the white garden. :D
In the wildflower garden, purple and yellow coneflowers are forming. Narrow-leaf mountain mint is blooming.
EDIT 6/16/25 --Out of 4 pots of switchgrass, 3 had several seedlings each. I planted those in the prairie garden. They kind of fell apart though. I have some more started. I may wait to plant those until I see roots at the bottom holes.

JOB HUNT UPDATE!!!!!
ANYWAY.
I've had this tab open for like a week and been unable to keep writing BUT NOT FOR LONG!!!!!!!!!! I have great news!!!!!!!
I HAD A JOB INTERVIEW TODAY AND ALREADY GOT A CALL BACK FOR A SECOND INTERVIEW IN A COUPLE DAYS I'M SO PUUUUUUUUUMPED!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway. Last week Pat had to pick up lube, so we went to Lion's Den, which acquired a different small chain of adult stores a few years back, and I just. idk man. I walked in and it was everything I'd been missing ;w; They weren't hiring at that location, but they were hiring an assistant manager at another location. So I went home and almost immediately applied to it.
Jump to today: I figured weekdays would be the best time to swing by and follow up with a manager, and I was right. The store manager was in, and she was supposed to interview someone today...but they didn't show up. SO. GOOD FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The interview went so well, it was everything I'm looking for in working in retail again, and just...idk man I felt like I really clicked with the store manager. And I did! She called me back less than two hours I left to set up a second interview, this time with the district manager. It's on Wednesday afternoon and I am SO EXCITED I want to go back to slinging dildos. I miss my stupid fun retail life ;w;
It would be evenings and weekends, which sucks but also I haven't worked in 2.5 years and I'm going insaaaaaane I need to get out of the fucking house. And this seems like SUCH a good fit.

wing ponder
just think about wings again ... alongside problems of cost , size , and practicality , not even sure if costume wings would feel right . did have some as kid , but ...
so , mien and seeming interconnect with each other , and have to deliberately try hard and focus to move either one independently - without that , pretty much in sync to each other . but that really only go for natural body parts ... wings of mien can move independently , for example , because there exist no equivalent wings on seeming to sync up with .
remember feel great when wear costume wings because people could finally see that have any , but also vaguely remember not really feel right . stiff wires and fabric that itch to touch , elastic straps around shoulders - think real wings try to conform to these positions , but never comfortable that way , and just highlight that still no one see real wings .
and then , of course , would get too big to fit in those little wings , and also " too old " for wings to be socially acceptable . not actually wear any sort of costume wings since then .
dreamwidth addendum :
not to mention , with shame and pain , would become much harder through years to actually feel wings to start with . think there is some runaway hope in mind that costume wings might be able to make that better , but honestly doubt . this is about trauma , feelings , and frustrations .

Reverse Benchmarking
I routinely use this in my writing. I look for things that other people do badly or not at all, then I write those things. Also I never have the patience to wait around for 20 years while other folks work through the whole identity literature process. New trait? Trait-having hero! Done. This is how I wind up with things like An Army of One (neurodiverse characters making their own culture), The Bear Tunnels (Native American time travelers), The Moon Door (women with disabilities who become werewolves), The Ocracies (everything but monarchy), The Origami Mage and Path of the Paladins (ace heras), P.I.E. (a hera who doesn't fall for a jerk), Polychrome Heroics (superpowers that involve more than crime and crimefighting), and The Steamsmith (a black, genderqueer, British, steampunk engineer).
Go ahead, throw me prompts for things that nobody is doing well, or doing at all, in any relevant prompt call. We can fill that gap together.
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
anyway ...
did mirror this post about fairytok , otherwise mostly things which already say before in some form , in hope to start discussions with others - how kossai define and experience mien and seeming , how faeriehood is intrinsic to all parts of identity , not necessarily new stuff . probably only thing which never really say elsewhere was some of little childhood experiences , which ... not really hard to rewrite , if so choose .
know other folks write more substantially , though . really hope forum copy was not only copy , because most parts of forum lock behind login wall - even if someone theoretically run forum through archival , that login wall would be lost .

Worldbuilding
Sketching out a map for a setting can be a lot of fun. Drawing a map gives you a bird’s-eye view of the world, a way to spatially organize plot arcs, and can be a great piece of artwork in its own right. But like most works of fiction, the creator should remember to keep it as believable as possible. This might be less important or less possible for unrecognizably alien worlds. Maps of Earth-like settings, however, can benefit from following some basic rules. Forests, tundras, deserts and plains don’t appear arbitrarily. These biomes are located where they are on Earth due to the way air and water circulate in the atmosphere – and any Earth-like world should follow the same basic rules for its atmosphere that Earth does.
But who wants to spend time researching atmospheric science just to know which parts of their map to color green, brown, or beige? Well, I do, so let me save you some trouble by relaying what I’ve learned.

Today's Smoothie
1 cup Brown Cow vanilla yogurt
about 1 to 1 1/2 cups fresh seedless watermelon chunks
about 2/3 cup frozen strawberries
1 teaspoon lime juice
The result is bright pink and on the thin side, with a notable watermelon flavor. I think next time I'll add a frozen banana.

oh . great .
visit today end in failure , as display message that board no longer exist . great ! just fucking fantastic ! can not use spaces on discord , so guess only way to really reach out to substantial community is tumblr - tumblr full of endless arguments and folks who just can not keep noses out and want to have all these fun new words without actually understand origins , then point accusatory fingers at original users for whatever .
unfortunately know very well kossai do not have skill set or patience to run something like this personally , otherwise just would at this point . not that anyone would use very much , evidently , but whatever .
