That happens to mean that, with how the suggested schedule stacks up, we're also a little bit more than half-way through the Maximum Mood Track 👀

This week's Minimum moods are: Relaxed, Silly, Uncomfortable

This week's Medium moods are: Tired, Aggravated, Annoyed

This week's Maximum moods are: Recumbent, Complacent, Indifferent

This part's optional mood is: Artistic

Complacent and Indifferent seem like the tough ones this week, both in themselves and in differentiating from each other. Complacent is just kinda letting things happen, while Indifferent isn't really caring about things happening. Good moods for stuff going on in the background, I guess! Or maybe you came across some images or ideas in Annoyed that didn't quite fit the bill, because the main subject was just too chill about things. On the plus side, while I still don't think Recumbent is really a mood, it does seem pretty easy to manage for most mood theme subjects*! Just let them lay down for a while 😂

* Exceptions can include things that float, because trying to figure out how to make a cloud lay down was one heck of a headache!

What are your thoughts on this week's moods? Have they got your creative juices flowing, or do you need a bit more of a metaphorical push? Do you think Recumbent really is a mood? And how is your mood theme going overall? Let's talk about it!

comments

Next week is a break week (phew!), and then we reach the first time this year that all three tracks have different moods.

This week's Minimum and Medium moods are: Relaxed, Silly, Uncomfortable

This week's Maximum moods are: Hyper, Amused, Cheerful

I almost forgot to do this, but! As usual, for anyone who's taking the Maximum track and wants to skip December, I'm adding an optional mood to the sixth week of this and the next four parts (total of five optional moods). Anyone who's working on that track and takes the optional moods will be able to skip the last two weeks of the schedule!

This Part's optional mood is: Accomplished

As you can see, we've moved on from Angry derivatives and onto branches of Happy. We'll be sticking with those for a while in the next Part as well. And...

Okay, I'm going to be honest with you. I'm wrung out today and don't have a lot of brain power to do my usual mood-themed chitchat in the main post 😅 But maybe you have some thoughts on this week's moods you'd like to share in the comments? Are you having any trouble with these? Did you get an idea right away for one or more of them? Do you want to talk some of them out, to tease out extra meaning so you can find or create the perfect graphic? Let's talk about it!

comments

After that, it's all bottom-level/leaf moods, so if you're aiming for a whole 36 moods to get some Dreamwidth points, you can go with Aggravated and Annoyed, as listed here, or you can pick any random two from the remaining moods in Parts 3 through 8! Next week will be a break week, and then Minimum and Medium moods will be synched up again for a while.

As far as this week's moods go, Tired is going to take care of most of the rest of the sleepy moods; but there's still one left to go if you find two images that would work perfectly and can't pick which one you'd rather use! Aggravated and Annoyed are bringing us solidly into the Angry derivatives with two we have to find subtle differences; I feel like Aggravated might be a bit more, hmm, active than Annoyed, myself? For me, Annoyed is something that can be passive, but Aggravated means that either something is being done on purpose, or something's about to be done on purpose. Does that make sense?

But maybe you feel otherwise! What are the differences between Aggravated and Annoyed to you? How do you plan to differentiate between them in your mood theme? Or are you fine on those two moods, and Tired is the one that's kicking your butt? Let's talk about it!

comments

Relaxed and Uncomfortable are almost polar opposites here! Hopefully, once you figure out the one, the other will come easily. Silly is always kinda fun, IMO, but if you're working with a serious character, you might have a bit of trouble with it. Do you put them in clown makeup, or a funny hat? Or maybe there's a scene where their drama is being crashed by a much more unserious character that you can draw from? Anyone who's working on that track and takes the optional moods will be able to skip the last two weeks of the schedule!

This Part's optional mood is: Accomplished

For discussion, I had a lot of fun last year coming up with "Cheerful", who ended up cheering on Dreamwidth users; things worked out extra nicely, in that the mood itself falls under Three Weeks for Dreamwidth! Are any of the rest of you relying on puns or alternate interpretations at all? Have you had any trouble with previous moods, or do you anticipate trouble with these ones? What's the most creative you've had to get with a mood so far? Let's talk about it!

comments

This is the home stretch for both the Medium and Minimum Tracks.

This week's Minimum moods are: Relaxed, Silly, Uncomfortable

This week's Medium and Maximum moods are: Tired, Aggravated, Annoyed

As a side note, "Tired" is the final mood that branches, so anyone who wants to cut out a little early, it's also a good stopping point.

Next week is our second break of the year! Following that, we'll be diving right into derivatives of Angry for the start of Part 3, while the Medium and Minimum Tracks will start at the beginning again. Are you making good progress on your mood theme? Looking forward to a break? Maybe you're almost at the end? Or maybe you're looking forward to joining in for the second round of the Medium Track this year? If you only want to do a little more than the bare minimum for a mood theme, but still want a good variety of images, these ones should fill things out nicely. That said, the last of the strictly mandatory moods were last week, so if you're not going for the Medium or Maximum mood tracks, these ones are just for fun! Make as many or as few moods as you want to from here on out.

Do you have any thoughts on this week's moods? Are you here for the Minimum track, or are you sticking around? Maybe you'll be starting with the next Part in February? Whatever else, I hope you have fun! If you haven't been following the optional moods (but still want to finish things out), there's only five moods left to go! Either way, what a rush.

This week's moods are: Contemplative, Nostalgic, Pensive

This weeks minimal moods are: Relaxed, Silly, Uncomfortable

This part's optional mood is: Productive

Some very thought-filled moods this time! Perhaps appropriate when looking back at a project that has taken most of a year. These moods also have some temporal aspects, I would say; Contemplative for addressing the now, Nostalgic for remembering the past, and Pensive for looking to the future. (Though I'm pretty sure that Pensive could also work for now, it's still a potential angle to explore with the moods!)

What are your thoughts? Are the moods coming to you easily, or will they take a bit more rumination? Do you need help or suggestions with any of them? And are you looking forward to the end of the year, and thus the end of the project? Let's talk about it!

comments

There's a lot of fun prop work you can do with at least Cold and Drunk, but there's potential for Dirty, as well! Definitely some of the moods that are easier to turn into images, I would say.

But what do you think? Are this week's moods easier than they have been lately, or not? Do you expect to struggle with any of these moods? And what about the optional mood for this part, Creative? Have you been keeping up with those so you can skip the final part, or do you want to extend the fun those extra couple of weeks? That means not just the last moods for this part, but for this round of the Minimal Mood Theme, and it's time for an Optional Mood!

This week's moods are: Recumbent, Complacent, Indifferent

This weeks minimal moods are: Relaxed, Silly, Uncomfortable

This part's optional mood is: Artistic

Recumbent doesn't really feel like a mood so much as a position to me, but it's on the list, so here it is! Meanwhile, Indifferent seems much easier to picture for me than Complacent; Complacent might be a good one to double-check synonyms on, since "resigned" seems like a pretty close match, but isn't listed in the mood theme. Artistic, on the other hand, is hopefully already how you're feeling with this challenge!

What are your thoughts? Do you think any of these will be particularly difficult or easy? Are any of them already clear in your mind? Do you expect to be chasing after one or more of them for a while? And are you looking forward to Break 4 next week? I can hardly believe it!

This week's moods are: Hyper, Amused, Cheerful

Starting here, I am now going to be adding an additional optional mood at the end of every Part. There are five Parts after this one, and the last one has only five moods in it; that means that, if you want to finish up a couple of weeks early and have almost the entire month of December off from mood theme work, you only have to do one extra mood per Part!

How does this work? All I will be doing is adding an extra optional mood to work on for the final week of Parts 3 through 7. You can still work on the moods in any order you like, but I know December is really busy for a lot of people, and having a little break from an extra challenge might be nice. Plus, it'll give you a longer cushion if you want to do Mood Theme in a Year again next year 😜

That said, making moods in December might be a nice break from the rest of everything for you! So in addition to the optional additional mood every Part, Part 8 will be going forward as planned.

All that is to say:

This Part's optional mood is: Accomplished

What are your thoughts on this week's moods? Are you excited to work on any of them? With the end of the Angry moods, we've moved onto variations on Happy. Are there any you're looking forward to? Do you think you'll have trouble coming up with all the potential Happy variants, or do you expect to zoom right through? And are you looking forward to the break next week? Let's talk about it!

comments

Content, meanwhile, is one of only two quaternary moods, with next week's Tired being the other; every single mood after that is a "leaf" mood. If you only want to finish every mood that has another mood branching off of it (plus every root mood), you've only got four left to go! If you're sticking around for the whole thing, though, we're about at the twenty percent mark.

What do you think about this week's moods? Do you have ideas for any of them yet? Are you eager to be finished with the branch moods and to move on to leaves, or do you wish there were more? Let's talk about it!

comments
